Your customer pays the full amount upfront, held safely until they sign off the finished work. No invoices. No chasing.
They don't — because their money is protected, not handed over. Stripe holds it safely until they sign off the finished job.
It's actually safer for them than handing over a cheque or bank transfer. If something goes wrong, they raise a concern and the funds stay held until it's resolved.
You can't disappear with their money. They can't disappear without paying.
Create a job directly, upload an existing quote, or collect enquiries through your Settleby page with pre-qualified questions.
Send the job to your customer as a checkout link. We can email it for you, or you can copy the link and send it yourself.
Your customer pays upfront to secure the job. Your deposit is released once funds clear, so you are not starting unpaid.
When the work is complete, the customer signs off the job. The remaining balance is then released to your account. No chasing. No awkward conversations.
We sat with plumbers, sparks, kitchen fitters and chippies. Every feature came from a job that didn't get paid on time.
No more "I'll transfer it tonight." The full job total is settled before you load the van.
Funds sit with Stripe in your connected account. You finish the job. They sign off. Done.
If the customer raises a concern, the job pauses for a reply. A clear, recorded process — not phone tag.
A branded checkout link with your name and trade. Customers feel the structure, you look serious.
Per job. No subscription. No exit fee.
Settleby never holds your money. Payments are processed by Stripe — the regulated payment processor — and held inside your own connected Stripe account. We orchestrate the deposit and balance release, but the funds stay with Stripe at all times.
Your deposit is released to your Stripe balance once the customer's payment clears (typically 1–3 working days for cards, faster for bank transfers). Stripe then pays out to your bank on its normal schedule.
The remaining balance releases automatically when your customer signs the digital satisfaction note. If they don't respond after a reminder period, the job auto-completes.
The balance pauses while you and the customer exchange notes through Settleby. There's a clear, recorded back-and-forth — once it's resolved, the balance releases. No phone tag, no awkward letters.
No. They tap the link, pay, and that's it. No app, no signup, no password.
The Settleby fee (1% capped at £29) is collected automatically when the customer pays, alongside Stripe's processing fees. There are no monthly subscriptions or setup fees.
Set up takes a few minutes — connect your Stripe account and start sending checkout links.
